Why You Should List Every Account Tied to Your Credit Cards
Automating your finances doesn’t have many drawbacks, but one that you sometimes run into is having to update all your accounts when you get a new credit or debit card. To make things easier, financial columnist J.Money suggests making a list of all the accounts associated with your cards.
Perhaps your card details were hacked and you had to order a new one. Or maybe you have a new credit card with a chip and your old one no longer works. Whatever the scenario, seeing all the accounts associated with your card can be a bit of a hassle. When this happens, it is very helpful to have a list of these accounts handy.
In his article “Budgets are Sexy” J. Money points out several more reasons why this advice is useful.
- It makes updating your new map all over the place MUCH faster.
- This prevents any late fees or, even worse, service outages from occurring, since you no longer forget where it is all listed!
- Reduces stress levels to a minimum
- And it forces you to reevaluate all the services / apps / products / accounts you need to see if they are still worth including in your life.
All you have to do is sit down and make a list once, and then when you link new accounts, just add them to the list. Go to J.Money’s full publication for more details.
