Four of the Most Common Workshop Injuries and Remedies
No one likes to think about injuries in the workshop, but it’s good to know how to deal with them when they occur. Make Magazine has compiled a list of how to deal with the four most common injuries you’re likely to see.
In the event of an emergency, you will want to assess the situation and call 911 as soon as possible, but what you do during this time is very important. This is what the Make cover does:
- Severed Finger : Wrap a tissue over the wound, then wrap a finger in a tissue and throw it into ice.
- Punctured : If someone is stuck in it, it’s a little scary to see. Wrap a towel around an unprotected item and take to the hospital. Don’t delete it.
- Severe burn : Place a cool, damp cloth over the burn , do not apply any ointment or wrap anything tightly around the burn .
- Passed out due to blunt trauma : do not move the person, check their heartbeat, if necessary, do cardiopulmonary resuscitation and apply tissue pressure if they are bleeding.
Obviously that’s not all, so head over to the Make page to find out more and make sure your knowledge of first aid is up to date as well .
