Airmail Arrives on IPad, Adds Touch ID Support, Customizable Shortcuts, and More
iOS: Airmail is a small email app with an incredible personality for the iPhone, and now it’s available for the iPad. Along with the update that includes iPad support, there are several new features here as well.
The iPad version of Airmail works the same as the iPhone version, so if you’re familiar with it, you’ll be right at home. The update also brings new features for iPad and iPhone, including support for Touch ID, custom keyboard shortcuts, saved searches, support for send later, and read receipts. The saved search feature is probably the most interesting. It allows you to create smart folders to search for, just like you can do it in the Finder in OS X. All old and new messages are automatically filtered into this folder so you can find them quickly. There is also a new dedicated unsubscribe button that allows you to quickly unsubscribe from newsletters with a single click.
The app is also much more stable. The animations are smoother, the HTML rendering engine has been improved, and a number of bugs fix the rough features of the starter version. This is a major upgrade to look out for if you’re looking for an email app that works just like a desktop app, and the iPad version included in one universal app makes it a nice little package for people with both devices.
