Simplenote Syncing Plain Text Editor Now Available for Windows and Linux
Windows / Linux: We have long been Simplenote fans , but Windows and Linux users had to use third-party editors to access their notes . Now the native Simplenote application is finally available for Windows and Linux.
The new Simplenote app for Windows and Linux is very similar to the Mac version released almost three years ago . It features a simple white lint-free design. This does not mean that the application is not very powerful, it is. It has a history feature to roll back notes to previous versions, collaboration tools to share and edit notes with others, the ability to post notes to a URL, and tags for organizing. In applications for Windows and Linux also has one big feature that is still missing in the application for the Mac: support for Markdown’s . Optionally, you can enable Markdown editing, and once enabled, you can edit and preview your notes in. Both apps are also open source, so you can look under the hood or contribute to future changes if you like.
