Transform IKEA Lamp Into Remote Controlled Death Star Lamp
Instructables user AudriusA1 shows us how to create this unique ceiling light, similar to the Death Star from Star Wars.
The $ 70 IKEA PS 2014 lamp already has this unusual cutout design, but to open and close the lampshade you have to pull on the lamp’s cords. (Lamp designer David Wahl says he was inspired by sci-fi movies and video games, by the way.)
In the hacked version above, the AudriusA1 engineer replaced the cord with a DC motor and added an Arduino microcontroller to control it. You can precisely control the movement of the lamp with the remote control, save 3 position settings, and have the lamp remember the last position when turned on. Fun as well as practical use of your Arduino skills.
