This Browser Game Shows How Dangerous It Is to Send Text Messages While Driving

You’ve been told over and over that texting while driving is incredibly dangerous (not to mention illegal), but this fun and simple browser game will show you exactly why.

Sometimes the reality of how dangerous something is is not realized until you actually experience it. In this simple game, Measuring Your Distraction from The New York Times, you drive at high speed, change lanes, and try to reply to text messages at the same time. The game makes you change lanes with the number keys (1 to 6) and respond to texts with your mouse to simulate typing one letter at a time on your phone keyboard. Despite the fact that you need to respond to texts with one word, you quickly realize how difficult it is to do everything at once.

This game isn’t new (it’s actually quite old), but it still does a great job of showing how bad we are at multitasking, especially at high speeds. There are many features now that help us communicate safely while driving, but texting while driving is still a problem. So, show this game to your teens who are learning to drive and try it for yourself. You can play it at the link below.
