You Work Hard, so Manage Your Money in Debt to Yourself
Money is easy to ignore. It’s boring. Too much work. However, the point is, you are probably working too hard not to worry about your finances. As Money After Graduation reminds us, “managing your money is just as important as earning it.”
Sometimes your financial situation is so out of order that it is incredibly scary to face it. Most of us have been there. If nothing else motivates you to take responsibility , take into account the fact that you work hard for this money, and even if you have financial obligations, in the end the money remains in your hands. As the writer Bridget Eastgaard put it, “You work too hard not to worry.”
Here’s what she has to say about this:
I remember not paying attention to my money. Coincidentally, in those years I did not have them either.
I used to think of money as a strange, intangible thing. More often than not, they came and went from my bank account as soon as the numbers changed on the screen. I never thought of leaving any of this or using it to make more money. I only understood this as what you got in exchange for a job … It’s hard to take responsibility for your money … It’s okay to find what you don’t like when you look closely at your finances. Hopefully this will inspire you to change them. Of course, you must confront them first.
The last sentence is probably the key one: before we can act, we must make a conscious effort to confront our money. And we should, because we work hard for this. To find out more, navigate to her full post below.
