Instagram Starts Experimenting With a Non-Chronological Timeline

Instagram, like Twitter before it , is starting to realize that there is no money to allow your best posts to fade away as a result of the ravages of time. The service is currently experimenting with algorithmic rather than chronological timescales.

Yesterday, the Facebook-owned company announced that it will experiment with a new model that will display posts that Instagram thinks you are most interested in in the first place. It is currently unclear if this will be on top of the usual reverse chronological channel or replace it entirely.

Instagram says this experience will be implemented “in the coming months.” This may mean that not everyone will see it or that it will be modified to the full version. Until then, I finally got the best reason to use this Chrono Trigger time warp background in the picture above.
