F.lux Is Finally Coming to Android, Requires Root to Work
Android ( root ): F.lux automatically changes the color temperature of your monitor based on the time of day to reduce eye strain. It’s now on Android, but you’ll need root to use it.
Other color temperature balancing apps came out on Android while we waited for f.lux, but many of them work by rendering a color overlay on top of your apps. This is not the best way to change the color temperature of the display, as it can lead to very strange display of some elements. F.lux instead changes the color temperature of the display at the system level, which should result in more accurate (if adjusted) displayed colors. The downside is that this process requires root. What’s more, a very similar feature is currently available in pre-release Android N , and it’s unclear if it can roll out to everyone when Google releases N to the general public. Until we know, f.lux is a great option for rooted users.
