Maintain a Weekly Achievement List to Motivate Yourself

Many of us have a daily list of things we want to do on a given day. However, when the week ends, we still feel unproductive. To combat this, try keeping a weekly achievement list to keep track of what you’ve done.

As the productivity site A Life of Productivity explains, writing down what you’ve accomplished at the end of the week helps you keep some perspective. It’s harder to forget those little (or big!) Things you did in a week. More importantly, it forces you to focus on the end result of all your employment, rather than constantly doing something to feel like you are doing more than you really are:

The list allows me to think about what I’m accomplishing, not just how much I’m doing. This pushes me to do less work and focus more on my important tasks, which are actually prompting me to do something.

The list is surprisingly motivating, especially when I’m relaxing or doing mindless busy work – a simple glance at the list prompts me to add larger items to it. Even though I did a lot today, the next day I still have motivation to expand the list further.

This is not a new concept at all , but it is important to keep this in mind . Even your small victories can be a great motivator , and forcing yourself to write down your accomplishments can also have a positive effect on your self-esteem. It’s harder to focus solely on the mistakes you made when you add them to the list of things you did right.
