Fast Sterilization of Baby Bottles in a Pressure Cooker
Baby bottles tend to pile up when you’re so busy looking after your baby as to wash them, but instead of running them in the dishwasher and waiting or washing them by hand, place them in the pressure cooker on the steam rack. In a few minutes they will all be clean and ready to use.
Anjali Prasertong explains how this is done and how well sterilized they come out after completion:
The instructions for my pressure cooker ( Kuhn Rikon Duromatic ) told me to place the washed parts on the steamer grate , add a cup of water, bring the pot to full pressure, and turn off the heat immediately. The process was quick and, with the exception of a few minutes when the contents rose to pressure, could be stopped and resumed as needed. This became the only way to sterilize pacifiers, bottles, nipples and pump parts throughout my son’s infancy.
If you don’t already have a pressure cooker, that’s already a good investment – it just makes it better.
