Ask Others for Favors on Good Days (or at Least When the Sun Is Shining)
Good weather lifts people’s spirits, which is nothing new, but being in a good mood means that you are more likely to provide simple services to others, and others are more likely to do you solid help. Keep this in mind the next time you want to ask for a raise, call the nanny, or even ask to leave work.
YouTuber In59Seconds explains that researchers conducted a simple study (and small, of course) in which a participant asked people on the street to check in their change, explaining that they had just parked their car and needed coins for the counter. On sunny days, 22% of people helped, in cloudy weather – only 14%. Of course, in any case, this is not so much, but the difference is enough for a question on a good day to be decisive.
It is difficult to extrapolate such a service to something larger, like a pay raise or a date, but this is something to keep in mind, considering everything else. If you’re ready to make a compelling case for why your boss should pay you more, or if the tension is building up with the guy or girl you’ve got your eye on, it might be worth waiting for a beautiful day to make a beautiful request.
