Sometimes You Have to Give up to Get Inspired
You’ve been staring at a blank page for hours. No matter how you think, brilliant ideas just don’t come true. It’s time to give up, and that’s okay.
As the business site Entrepreneur explains, inspiration doesn’t work on schedule (and there’s plenty of scientific evidence to back this idea up ). Your brain cannot be forced to come up with a stellar idea. However, trying to force your mind to try to hold you back. If you want to reward good ideas, don’t be afraid to give up:
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at a blank screen, white sheet of paper or media board and racked my brains for a big idea that never came up. In the end, I give up, flop into a chair and say, “Fuck, I’m ready.” It takes me a while to disconnect, but when that happens, the answer is inevitable.
Any good creative person knows that ideas can come at the most inopportune moment. The trick is to let them happen naturally. Sometimes that means you just stop working during the day, stop being “productive,” and let your mind wander. Adhering to a rigid set of rules does not always guarantee a brilliant result. Give yourself time to give up for a while, and you may find that your ideas are more natural in a relaxed state. Remember to be able to write them down when they happen .
