Protect Garden Labels From Water With Clear Nail Polish
It only takes a few ice cream sticks and a felt-tip pen to make your own garden labels, but water can cause ink to drip or rot wood. You can save them with what you probably already have: nail polish.
Make the labels as usual, but after the ink is dry, coat the plant name with a layer of clear nail polish and let it dry. Your labels will be protected from spring rains or water from your garden hose, as well as any dirt they may accumulate. If you’re just starting to plan your garden, you can make your own shortcuts and cover them so they are ready to go straight into the ground.
