The Beta Version of VLC for Android Can Now View Your Files on the Local Network

The VLC app for Android has allowed you to stream videos over the network for a while, but it always required a direct file link to do so. The latest beta now allows you to browse folders on shared devices.

The update allows users to view files via UPnP, NFS, FTP, SFTP, SMB, Windows Shares and several other protocols. The beta is now available to the VLC Beta testers who you can join here . Besides viewing files, users can also switch from the regular Android interface to an Android TV-style design.
