You Don’t Need to Be Constantly Motivated, Just at the Right Time.
Unproductive guilt is real. This feeling arises when you think you should be doing more, even if you have already worked to death. The catch: you don’t have to run all the time.
As writer Jamie Veron explains, even on your most productive week, you probably don’t get the job done every minute of every day. Even if you work, a big chunk of the rewards and rewards probably comes from a small portion of the work you do . Knowing this, it’s okay to give yourself the freedom to be something more human than a productivity machine:
You are not a robot. You can’t just conjure up motivation when you don’t have it. Sometimes you go through something. Sometimes life happened. A life! Remember life? Yes, it teaches you something, and sometimes it takes you a long way to learn the most important lessons.
You cannot control everything. You can wake up at 5 a.m. every day until you get tired and broken, but if the words, picture or ideas don’t want to come true, they won’t. You can come every day with the best of intentions, but if it’s not the time, then it’s just not the hell of a time. You have to allow yourself to be human.
Instead of trying to be productive all the time, focus on being productive at the right time. The moment you have a brilliant idea for your book? Get in the habit of writing it down. Are you having a very long weekend? Use the extra time to complete your side project instead of spending all day on Netflix.
