US Cities Where It Is Cheaper to Book Airbnb Instead of a Hotel
Choosing Airbnb comes with risks , but it can also save you some money. Here are seven major US cities where booking Airbnb instead of a hotel can save you hundreds of dollars over your stay.
Busbud, a coach travel booking site, analyzed approximately 220,000 Airbnb offers worldwide and compared their rates to the average prices shown in the Hotels.com Price Index. They found that, on average, in the American cities of Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, New York, and Washington DC, Airbnb rates were better than hotel rates. And in some cities, the price difference was enormous. In New York, for example, Airbnbs were on average cheaper than comparable hotel rooms at $ 81.80 a night. Of course, there is a caveat here: Airbnbs may not have the amenities or locations that hotels might provide. That said, if you’re willing to ditch some of the perks, it might be worth comparing several Airbnb the next time you travel to one of these cities.
