Use Spotlight to Skip ITunes When You Just Want to Play One Song
Do you just need to quickly play a song from your hard drive but don’t want to waste time opening iTunes? OS X Daily notes that Spotlight is the best choice for this.
While you’ve been able to play songs from the Finder or using Quick Look for a long time, neither of these options can keep playing in the background. The spotlight can. Open Spotlight (Command + Space), enter the title of the song you want to play, then click the play button in the middle of the album cover. The song will play to the end or until you manually pause it. This is a pretty good way to play one song without having to go to iTunes.
