Make a Mathematically Perfect Batch of Pancakes With These Formulas
Pancakes are easy to make, but why not try making the perfect batch? These formulas will help you easily determine how much pancake dough you need overall, as well as the exact amount needed for each individual pancake, depending on the shape you are using and how thick you like them.
The University of Sheffield Mathematical Society (SUMS) recommends using this formula to achieve consistent pancake excellence:
Mix required per pancake (ml): (D ^ 2 x T x π) / (4)
Total Mix Required (ml): (D ^ 2 x T x π x P) / (4)
D = pan diameter (cm), T = desired pancake thickness (cm) and P = number of pancakes desired.
Of course, if you don’t want to do the math yourself, you can follow the link below and use their pancake calculator . The calculator also shows you how many eggs, butter, flour, and other ingredients you need. You can also download the calculator as a Microsoft Excel file (XLSX) from the same site and use it anytime. Now each pancake will be perfectly proportioned, and you will not have to deal with a bunch of dough leftovers. You can read more about their methodology at the link below.
