Use Your Cast Iron Skillet As a Pizza Stone

Pizza stones are the best way to make pizza , but they can take up a lot of space and good ones are not always affordable. Use your cast iron skillet as an impromptu pizza stone for a crispy crust.

You can cook the pizza directly in the skillet , but if you turn the skillet over and use the heated bottom, the dough will be crispy in less than two minutes. Turn on the frypot so it can heat up while you heat the pan on the stovetop. Set it on the highest heat and keep it there until you feel warmth coming through the other side (don’t burn yourself!). Then turn it over, place it on the oven rack and place the pizza on top. Let it simmer for about a minute and a half (so the filling is completely fried), then check if it’s done.

This method works best for pizza with a thinner crust. If your cast iron skillet is smaller, you’ll have to make custom sized pizzas, but that just gives everyone the opportunity to customize their toppings.
