Use QuickTime As a Built-in Simple Video Conversion Tool
QuickTime is one of those great little apps that does more than you’d expect. For example, it plays video, but it can also record your screen . Our friends at How-To Geek also remind us that it is perfect for converting between video formats.
QuickTime can’t natively play all popular video formats (we’re looking at you MKV), but for what it can play , converting files is very easy. This is great if you want to convert your video for playback on your iOS device or Apple TV. Just open the video in QuickTime, then choose File> Export. From here, you can export videos in various formats. It’s not a handbrake (which is free too), but it’s always nice to have an option built in.
