Remove Seeds From the Pomegranate With a Salad Spinner
Tapping a pomegranate with a spoon is a pretty easy way to get to the delicious ruby-colored treat on the inside, but it can still be a little messy. The video above shows how to remove seeds from sadly messy fruits without red splatter.
This method is very neat and clean for several reasons: firstly, the pomegranate is never cut , but only cut, so you will not lose the juice that you would have if you cut it in half. The fruit is then ripped apart in a large Ziploc bag and hit several times to release everything and any juice lost during this step is retained . (Don’t worry if there are a few stubborn guys out there; you’ll get them in the next step.) Finally, the entire mess falls into a salad bowl filled with water, from where you can remove the more tenacious seeds. Not only does the water hold the juice on your fingers, but it also makes it easy to separate the tasty fruit from the membranes as the seeds sink and other debris floats. Remove the skins and films, lift the inner basket of your salad bowl and drain the water. Rotate the seeds if you like and eat your reward.
It’s a little more difficult than cutting it in half and whipping it with a spoon, but it will definitely protect your kitchen, clothes and loved ones from juice stains.
