Alton Brown’s Tips for the Best Homemade Smoothies
Making smoothies isn’t too difficult, but these basic tips from celebrity chef Elton Brown will ensure smooth smoothies are made smoothly.
In Good Food , Live and Give a Diet, host Elton Brown explains how to make the perfect homemade smoothie. Here are his top tips:
- Use quick frozen fruit instead of ice . You will have better taste, better texture and less risk of watering your cocktail.
- Pour in liquid first, then add leafy greens, then frozen fruits and whatnot. It’s easier with a blender.
- Turn on the blender on a low speed and gradually increase the speed as you blend.
If you start mixing at too high a speed, air pockets will appear in your smoothie and the blades of your blender will not do anything. Smoothies can be a super healthy snack or meal replacement if done right , so it’s time to mix. You can watch the best excerpts from this Good Food series at the link below.
