Rest of the Day: IOS 9 Will Get Features Like F.lux
Apple today unveiled a new beta of iOS with some nice features, AT&T has given back unlimited mobile data – if you sell your soul to it – and TSA will accept your government ID for another two years.
- F.lux-style screen dimming capabilities are coming to iOS soon . Apple today released iOS 9.3 beta, which includes a new feature called Night Shift. Like f.lux, it changes the colors on the screen to warmer tones depending on the time of day, so you won’t be exposed to harsh blue light while you sleep with your iPad in your hands. (F.lux was previously available for iOS but required a jailbreak or unpublished download.) [Apple]
- Apple has also released a new beta version of tvOS for developers, which includes some small but much needed features like Bluetooth keyboard support. [The Next Web]
- AT&T offers unlimited mobile data again – but only if you also subscribe to their home Internet and TV services.
- Rumor has it that Amazon has a cheaper portable version of its Echo device in the works . (The Echo is a voice-activated speaker, similar to Siri or Cortana, but tied to Amazon services.) It’s an interesting device; in December of this year, I would have shouted, “Put on the Christmas music!” across the room and Amazon’s magic robot always delivered. [Gizmodo]
