Clever Ways to Turn Cup Noodles Into Real Food
Cup noodles are a last resort or office meal for most of us, but just because they’re all you have doesn’t mean they have to be disgusting. The lovely Brothers Green Eats has several ways to improve on these microwave-cooked waterlogged noodles, provided you have a few additional ingredients on hand.
Some of these conversions definitely require a well-stocked pantry, and you’ll pretty much leave you with only cup noodles, well, noodles anyway. Others, however, use ingredients you already have at home, or even sachets of sauce that you might have in your office closet (though definitely not herbs, jalapenos, or other fresh ingredients). However, no matter what, they all include filling the noodle cup with a bunch of goodies, adding hot water and letting it cook.
In about seven minutes, you’ll learn how to turn plain cup noodles and turn them into a pho-like beef dish, a coconut curry riff using only coconut milk, water and mushrooms, and a double. on chicken tikka masala. There is even a kimchi tofu noodle dish that starts with a cup, and a salmon miso ramen that can be made if you have the right foods. Click Play at the top to watch it all, or watch it on YouTube below. Even if it’s clearly too much to make in the office on a whim, it might inspire you to update some of your boring office lunches with whatever you might have on hand .
