Set Aside One Hour Each Day for Yourself.
Someone else is likely to spend most of your time at work. Your boss or your clients want you to do their business . If you are not comfortable with your situation, take one hour a day when you’re the only boss.
Personal finance site My Money Blog brings this helpful tip from renowned investor Warren Buffett. We are often tempted to work overtime to improve our lives. A little extra money never hurts, right? However, you might be better off stopping work when the time is running out and spending that extra time working on yourself. Learn a skill, do a part-time job, complete your resume. Something that benefits your goals and not someone else’s:
If you’re an administrative assistant making $ 10 an hour and don’t want to be, don’t sign up for a job for another $ 10 hour. Working longer isn’t necessarily the best idea. Instead, give up $ 10 (or $ 8 after taxes) and somehow improve yourself or create something to make a lot more money. There is no single solution, look inside yourself. Nursing school? Investment books? Looking for a mentor?
Please note that this should not be confused with leisure activities. Your regular boss will not like it if you spend time loosening up the clock. So don’t waste an hour watching Netflix because it’s good for you. Make a plan to improve your life, and then gradually implement it every day.
