Grind Leftover Candies Into Dust for a Mint Latte, Cookie, or Ice Cream
If you have lollipops after the holidays, you can turn them into a delicious mint filling for cookies, ice cream, and even coffee. All you need is a hammer, or better yet, a food processor.
Unwrap the candies, break them into pieces, and place them in a food processor or blender to turn them into peppermint dust. If you don’t have a food processor or blender, a heavy skillet, hammer, or rubber mallet will work. Place the lollipops in a plastic bag, close them tightly, and place them on the table with a towel under the bag to avoid damaging the countertop. Break the candies until you get the size you want. Store shredded canes in an airtight container and keep them as long as you like.
Add peppermint dust for an extra minty sweetness to frozen cakes or cookies, ice cream, hot cocoa, or coffee. You can even mix it with cake or cookie dough for a minty flavor. If you have other candy flavors (such as Dum Dums or Sweet Tarts), you can use the same technique to prepare flavored dessert dust.
