Make Your Cheap and Compact Cat Tree From Ikea Tables
If you build your own cat tree, you can customize it to suit your home and your cat. Here’s a compact one that you can make with Ikea Lack bedside tables for less than most similar sized cat trees.
You can make this DIY four-tiered cat tree for about $ 40, perfect for a corner or small space. Of course, this doesn’t include the cost of your time, but it’s a good option if you like the look and want to save some money. Here’s what you need:
- 4 Insufficient tables from Ikea
- 12 chair brackets (like these from Amazon )
- 24 screws
- Leg-split
- Screwdriver
- Glue (optional)
Use chair brackets to hold three of the four tables together by stacking them on top of each other. Brackets connect the legs of one table to the top of the table below it. You will only use the top of the fourth table to form the base of the tree. If your cat loves to itch, either wrap twine around a few legs or glue it in place. You can also add custom features for your cat, like her favorite bed or a cardboard box to hide in. For added stability, store heavy items such as cat litter on the lower level.
