How Outlet Stores Make You Think You Are a Great Deal

Outlets are supposed to be places where you can get great discounts on branded clothing, but they aren’t always what they seem. This video shows you how some stores rip you off and some red flags to watch out for.

In this video, on YouTube, Vox and Chavie Lieber break some of the misconceptions about modern branded stores. You might think that you are getting discounts on well-known brands that were returned or could not be sold last season, but you probably are not. Lieber suggests that most of the items you find in retail outlets were likely produced by third-party vendors rather than the brands themselves. This usually means that the garment was whipped up and the models are likely made with cheaper fabric, buttons, and less embroidery.

In fact, it is estimated that about 85% of in-store clothing was made specifically for these outlets. So the tag that says “originally $ 350” is misleading. It is more likely that the design was sent to a third party for cheap sale. However, all of this does not mean that you should not stop at outlets; there are many more great suggestions. Just make sure you do your research and know what to look for when shopping there .
