Build a Simple Photo Alarm System With Arduino
Burglar alarm systems are complex. However, if you just want to catch a sandwich thief at work or a cat spilling all your water bottles, Make will show you how to build an alarm system using an Arduino and a USB camera.
Once you set the alarm, it senses movement next to the Arduino, takes a snapshot and sends it to you using If This Then That . All you need is an Arduino Yún, a PIR sensor, a USB camera, speakers, and a USB sound card. It’s a little pricey, but it is endlessly reusable and can be easily moved from place to place. You probably won’t want to rely on this to protect all of your valuables at home, but it’s an interesting project for less important things.
