Share Files Via AirDrop Between Your Old Mac and Your New One With This Setting
AirDrop is one of the easiest ways to share files in OS X, but it doesn’t work between different versions of OS X. If you have one computer on Mavericks and another on El Capitan, they won’t find each other. OS X Daily offers a simple workaround.
To share files between different versions of OS X, you just need to enable one option. Open AirDrop and find the text that says “Can’t see who you are looking for?” and click on it. Then click Find Old Mac. Your new Mac should now find the older one.
To be clear, this won’t change the base system requirements for AirDrop ( although there is a workaround for this depending on your operating system ), but it will at least make file sharing easier.
