Blend Thanksgiving Classics and Make Filled Waffles

On Thanksgiving, flip the traditional dish upside down by turning the filling into crispy squares filled with gravy pockets. All you need is the filling, which you were going to make anyway, and the waffle iron.

Combine the filling, then place a layer on the hot waffle iron. How long you cook filled waffles depends on how hot your iron gets, but in general you should cook them twice as long as regular waffles just to make sure they are well done. The waffle iron pockets are perfect for catching gravy or cranberry sauce, which means every bite is moist and delicious. If minced meat at the dinner table doesn’t bother you, try this with leftover toppings. Serve breakfast waffles with maple syrup. Or, if you’re truly decadent, use them instead of turkey sandwich bread.
