Simple Thanksgiving Food Exchanges That Reduce Calories Without Hitting Taste
Traditionally, there is minced meat for Thanksgiving, but you can still get enough of the traditional flavors without breaking your diet. MyFitnessPal shows us some simple meal replacements that cut calories, sugar, and / or fat in traditional Thanksgiving foods.
Some of them may not be to your liking (I’m not ditching dark meat in favor of skinless turkey breast to save 50 calories), but others make a lot of sense, especially desserts. One slice of pumpkin pie, for example, cuts 541 calories, 27 grams of sugar, and 16 grams of fat, compared to a slice of pecan pie. Some of these substitutions are small changes you might not even notice, such as making a lighter cornbread filling using skim buttermilk, low sodium chicken broth, and halving butter and sugar.
The recipes for these exchanges are at the bottom of the linked post.
