Three Easy Ways to Help You Survive in the Wild With Glasses
You might think that wearing glasses is a disadvantage, but in a survival situation, it’s just another tool to work with.
Who knew we nerds had such a handy tool on our faces? Depending on the material of your stats, Backpacker’s Casey Lyons has some very simple ways to use your goggles in survival situations:
- Squeeze out the larvae : Use the long temporal portions of the frame to dig into hollow or dead logs for lunch.
- Make a compass : If your frames are stainless steel, you can break off a piece and magnetize it by rubbing one end against your hair. Throw it into still water and the magnetized end points north.
- Make a fishhook : Bend the metal frame pieces into a classic fishhook shape, or sharpen the plastic frame pieces intogorge hooks .
Some of these tips work with regular sunglasses too. However, it should be noted that you should not try to make any blades from lenses. Despite the term “glasses,” your lenses are probably made of composite plastic and are better suited for starting fires . Find out more at the link below.
