Build a Device Capable of Breaking Basic Combination Locks in Less Than 30 Seconds
We’ve already shown you a calculator to help you pick a basic combination lock, but this device does all the work for you in less than 30 seconds.
This post is part of our Evil Week series on Lifehacker where we take a look at the dark side of goal achievement. Sometimes evil is justified, and sometimes knowing evil means knowing how to defeat it. I want more? Visit our wicked week tags page .
In the video above, Sami Kamar , the same guy who came up with the code lock calculator, found a way to take things to the next level. Using an Arduino Nano , a small motor, and a few other electronic components, you can build a battery-powered device that breaks any Master’s combination lock in less than 30 seconds. Putting it all together is a rather complicated process and it involves 3D printing several parts, but the end result is pretty impressive. Fortunately, 3D printing no longer costs an arm or a leg , and there are many services out there that can print anything for you too . If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a super spy or master thief, this is the device for you. Never again will you have to worry about forgetting your combo!
