Write the Best Speech by Practicing It for a Beginner
If delivering a speech isn’t intimidating enough, it can be just as difficult to write. And if you’re dealing with a complex topic, it can be difficult to gauge if you’ve simplified the topic enough for people to understand. One way to be sure of this is to practice this speech with a beginner.
This advice doesn’t just apply to speaking; this may apply to writing as well. I kind of do this when I write about boring, confusing topics like investing for two cents. It’s easy for me to get bogged down in jargon and research, so I’ll read my draft to a friend who knows nothing on the topic just to make sure I’m explaining it in an accessible way.
The muse suggests something similar: to read his speech to the child.
This exercise aims to convey your business idea as simply and easily as possible. Children have much less real-world experience than adults and need to simplify ideas, which means you have to get rid of all those buzzwords and empty sentences. The bottom line is that even if you simplify your presentation, you will actually end up with a more meaningful presentation. Use this to get used to simple, concise phrases.
The child may be too new to come, but you get the idea. In order not to jump over your heads, practice your speech on someone who does not understand what you are talking about. They will indicate areas that may require further clarification.
