Worst Performance Kills Android Apps – Just What You’d Expect

Some of the apps you use regularly are worse for your phone than others. AVG has done some analysis and has identified the most serious offenders. Unsurprisingly, things like Facebook, Spotify, Netflix, and Amazon top the charts.

AVG’s analysis revealed which applications are negatively affecting the performance of your phone. This takes into account the consumption of battery power, storage space and use of mobile data. The worst offenders are who’s who of the apps that are likely installed on your phone.

Big names like Facebook, Snapchat, Spotify, Netflix, Amazon, and Instagram hit the charts, sometimes more than once. Google Play Services also ranks second among apps that launch on their own (although that’s not too surprising since it’s a framework used by a lot of other apps ).

There are also some surprise hits. Weather Channel and Words with Friends were pinned to launch without user input, despite no apparent reason why these apps should launch at launch and run in the background. Facebook Pages Manager has also managed to climb the charts, using a ton of internal storage just to manage its pages.
