Make Cheap Bourbon Taste Better With This Instant Aging Blend
Usually, expensive aged bourbon is much smoother than anything you find in a plastic bottle. However, this simple blend can age any cheap bourbon and save time and money.
This gimmick from the pages of Cook’s Illustrated Kitchen Hacks is made up of just three ingredients: liquid smoke, vanilla extract, and dry sherry. Mix 1 tablespoon dry sherry with 1/4 teaspoon vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke. Then mix this elixir with 750 milliliters of any cheap bourbon you like and shake well. Serve neat, on ice, or in any cocktail that requires bourbon. With the possible exception of whiskey connoisseurs, most people won’t be able to tell the difference between a real aged bourbon and your magical mix.
