Get Rid of Weekly Meetings With Meetings Marathon
Meetings are important, but they can also seriously hinder your productivity. If you schedule them all for one work day, the rest of the week can be much more efficient.
We’ve already talked about not having meetings the day before , but Eric Schweikardt and Brad Feld of Modular Robotics use the opposite of this concept: a “meeting marathon”. Schweikardt explains:
I switched all of my regular one-on-one appointments for the week to Tuesday, one day with nine appointments in a row, non-stop … and I have four days to do my job.
Schweikardt also notes that by the end of his marathon meetings, he usually feels satisfied and not drained. Moreover, with so many meetings in a row, it was easier for him to identify trends and problems that lie below the surface level of having only one meeting a day. You may not necessarily be in charge of your meetings, but you can still suggest ways to improve them .
