Why Your IPhone May Suddenly Start Slower Than Normal
If your iPhone seems to be running a little slower in the last couple of weeks, you might have it all in your head. Some interesting Google Trends data may explain a phenomenon known as the “slow iPhone.”
These Google Trends, presented here Statista , show that searches for query “slow iPhone» are huge peaks every time a new iPhone is released. The “slow iPhone” phenomenon has two possible causes. First, Apple usually releases a new version of iOS around the same time it launches a new iPhone, so some of the sluggishness is certainly due to the new OS running on old hardware. In fact, postponing this iOS update is not a bad idea if your device is really old.
However, the iOS update doesn’t really explain the huge drop in Google searches since the iPhone was released, so there is probably another reason for the jump. When people find out that a new iPhone is coming, their current devices seem inadequate, bulky and slow. It’s a way to justify ourselves that we need a new one: “I need a new iPhone because mine has been so slow lately.” There’s nothing wrong with buying a new phone if that’s what you were planning, but keep in mind that your phone probably isn’t as slow as you might think.
