Track Your Baggage With American Airlines’ Track My Bag Tool
Losing your baggage can be a nightmare, and finding it at a baggage claim can be a bit of a headache too. To ease the pain, American Airlines has a new tracking system that tells you where your bag is from the moment you check in at check-in until you arrive at the carousel.
If your bag isn’t showing up in the carousel, or you’re just wondering how close it is to arrival, you can log into American’s website where they now have a Track Your Bags section. It is not yet available through their app, but you can access it on their mobile site. Enter your last name and baggage tag number or write down the locator (on your boarding pass) and the tracker will tell you where your baggage is at one of six checkpoint scans between check-in and baggage claim.
The service is free, and while it actually launched a couple months ago, American wanted employees to get used to scanning bags at every checkpoint before they officially announce the launch.
