Illuminated Workspace of Lighting and Glass Designer
Lighting is one of the most important elements of any room. In the workspace unveiled today, the lights are embellishments and inspirations created by glass artist and lamp designer Alison Berger.
House & Garden offers an excellent description of Berger’s studio:
Prismatic glass fixtures with low-level incandescent light bulbs are housed in antique library cabinets in her studio and hang from everywhere – from ceilings, walls and thin bronze fixtures. The lamps are lit all day, creating a magical meditative atmosphere. Each one captures and refracts the changing shades of light outside, alternating between tropical greens, watery blues, or the glowing warmth of the golden hour at sunset. And then at night the light comes on, painting the walls with shadows. “The word ‘lighting’ makes almost no sense,” says Alison of her work. “It’s more atmospheric lighting. Lamps are glowing pieces that can be used for sculptural purposes. These are not lanterns. They are best combined with architectural lighting in the home. “
Each piece of her glass is made of optically clear crystal. Aside from lighting fixtures, the studio is a vibrant space filled with natural light, plants and rustic objects. For more photos, see the article at the link below.
If you have your own workspace to show off, share it with us by adding it to our Lifehacker Workspace Show and Tell Flickr pool. Make sure all photos you add are at least 640×360 in size. Maintaining their 16: 9 aspect ratio also helps! Include a little text about what you used, how you came up with the design, and any other important details. If your smart organization and good design flair are striking, you might be the next ambassador for your workspace.
