All New 3D Touch Features on IPhone 6s
The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are coming out today, and now that you’ve figured out how to buy it , it’s time to figure out how to use it. IMore contains all the new features of 3D Touch.
An iconic new feature in the 6s is 3D Touch, which usually works like a right click on your phone. You can use this feature on your home screen, in apps, and more. Here’s a quick overview of some of the features:
- From the home screen: you can press hard on the icon to trigger special actions such as instantly taking a selfie, sending a message to a specific person, and more. This works with all Apple apps by default, and third-party apps are also slowly releasing updates with this feature.
- Peek and Pop: “Peek and Pop” lets you preview certain things in iOS. If you decisively click on links, messages and data detectors (such as dates, locations, or airline information), you can “glimpse” the end result. It’s basically a Quick Look for iOS. To take action as a result of viewing, simply release to close, or swipe up to see more options.
- App Switching: App switching is a little faster with 3D Touch. Instead of double-clicking the Home button, you can now use 3D Touch. Press firmly on the left side of the screen, then swipe slightly to the right to open the app switcher. You can also swipe right to open the last used app.
- Trackpad : You can now get a small trackpad to make text highlighting easier. Just press firmly on the keyboard and then slide your finger across the screen to move the cursor. If you press a little harder, you can also select text.
These are just the basics and I’m sure we’ll see a few hidden features next week. There is still a lot more you can do, though, so head over to iMore for the complete guide and be sure to check out Apple’s guide .
