Forgot Your ID? Even a Costco Card Will Guide You Through the Airport
Although you should always travel with your driver’s license or passport, forgetfulness does occur. Erica Ho of MapHappy notes that no matter what, you should still try – she only flew into the airport with a Costco card.
It turns out that you don’t need to have a driver’s license or passport to get inside. If your TSA agents are good, other “photo IDs” may work, and even then they have other methods of verifying your identity :
You will be able to fly if you provide us with some information that will help us determine who you say you are. If you would like to provide additional information, we have other means of verifying your identity, such as using publicly available databases. If we can verify your identity, you will be eligible for verification and you may have to go through additional verification.
Amazingly, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard of someone going through security with just their Costco card. It can also help if you have credit cards and other identification documents. If you’ve forgotten your entire wallet … things can get tricky, but it’s always worth a try (at least if you’re on a domestic flight, international flights are a whole different story).
Moral of the story: If you are flying into the airport, facepalm and realize that you forgot your ID, try to wear what you have. Read Erica’s story at the link below.
