Use a Torque Wrench to Prevent Over-Tightening the Bolts.
Every DIY locksmith should have a torque wrench handy to prevent stripping and over-tightening the bolts.
Many bolts used in the construction of cars and trucks are tightened to a specific torque to ensure that all parts are properly tensioned and loaded. Oil drain plugs and wheel nuts are excellent examples. Set the torque on the wrench by turning the knob to the desired values. When you tighten the bolt, listen for a clicking sound, which means you have reached the set torque and stop.
Handle the torque wrench with care and never drop it as this could damage it. When you’re done using the wrench, completely reduce the storage torque to keep the settings longer.
This high-end Tekton torque wrench is available on Amazon for $ 39.
