Get a Sweeter, More Juicy Pineapple by Turning It Upside Down
Sometimes the pineapple you bought isn’t exactly what you want. If your pineapple isn’t as ripe or juicy as you’d like, try this Food 52 trick and turn it upside down.
Just saw off the top, flip on a plate, cover with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for a couple of days. The idea is that the juice will drain from the more ripe bottom of the fruit and spread throughout the pineapple, creating a tastier tropical treat.
It’s worth noting, however, that some of the commenters on the original post have had success simply by flipping their fruits at room temperature without sawing off any part of the fruit (only removing the stem). Perhaps a side-by-side comparison is appropriate?
