Gluru Shows You Files, Emails and More When You Need Them
Internet / Android / iOS (coming soon). One of the benefits of Google Now is that it delivers useful information exactly when you need it. Gluru is a new app and web service that wants to do the same just for your productive life using Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, Google Calendar, etc.
Gluru is a kind of “personal assistant” in the sense that a real assistant will keep track of your calendar, keep track of your appointments and events, and help you stay ready by offering you things you need to check before you really need them. At the start of your day, Gluru shows you a digest of your daily events with the files and information you need for every appointment, appointment, deadline, or to-do on your calendar. Then, as the day progresses, Gluru automatically displays those files, emails, and other information as these events happen, both on your phone and on your desktop.
However, this is not entirely passive. At any time, you can press the big Now button and Gluru will think and post the information the app thinks you need right now to get things done. Of course, for this to work, you need to link Gluru to the services you use the most, and right now the service supports Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, OneDrive, Box, Google Calendar, and of course Gmail. Once you connect your accounts, you can also use Gluru to search all connected services, so if you don’t remember if the report you want is a Gmail attachment saved in Dropbox or your company’s Box account, Gluru can find it.
Best of all, the app learns as you use it, so you get better search results and more useful information in these digests at the moment. The service is completely free for individual users (teams have to pay, and this is how the service plans to make money rather than collect data from users, thankfully), and Android and web apps are now available. iOS is coming soon.
