How to Disable the “inactive Window Scrolling” Feature in Windows 10
Windows 10 has a feature I’ve been waiting for years: the ability to hover over an inactive window and scroll up and down with the scroll wheel. If you’d rather turn this off, you can do it in Windows settings.
I personally think this is the best thing since sliced bread, but if you’re used to scrolling your cursor up and down anywhere, you can turn this off:
- Go to the new Settings app and click on the Devices section.
- Click the Mouse & TouchPad tab.
- Disable Scroll Inactive Windows On Hover.
It’s easy to find this setting, but with the two customization apps in Windows 10 (Settings and Control Panel, where the old mouse settings were), it may not be intuitive right away.
And if you’re using Windows 8 or earlier and want this feature, you can always use WizMouse at your fingertips .
