This DIY Audio Jack Key Holder Allows Keys to Be Inserted for Safe Storage
You don’t have to be an audiophile to appreciate this DIY audio jack keychain, but it certainly helps. Mounted on the wall, you’ll always have a place to insert your keys when you get home, and you’ll know where to find it. It’s easy to build, too.
Pretty much everything you need to do this can be found at your local hardware store or, if you’re like me and have too many pairs of headphones, also among the cables and connectors in your desk drawer. However, you will need a drilling machine to cut the holes for the jacks themselves in the housing you are building. You might be able to get it done at your local hardware store, or take advantage of funds at your local hacking or manufacturing space , but that’s the only tricky part you might run into. Plus, you just install the connectors into the case, hang the case on the wall, make yourself small keychains with stereo jacks to add to your key chain, and that’s it.
When you get home, just pop in your keys, and if you choose good plugs, that nice click you get when you plug them in will let you know they’re safe and not going anywhere. Follow the link below for more photos and a complete step-by-step guide.
