The calculator, from the nonprofit Economic Policy Institute in Washington, DC, lets you enter the zip code where you live or want to live and breaks down the data based on the number of adults and children in your household. It uses a lot of country and area averages for its calculations, but gives you a pretty good idea of how much it will cost to live in different cities across the country.
